Illuminated Cloud: The design resembles a Geissler tube and visualises the basic principle of an aurora borealis. Experiments are conducted using different media, tensions and pressures. In the process, the operation of anodes and cathodes and the presence of plasma, electrodes and ions is explained. Layered discharges and magnetic bottles can be made visible and explained. Plasma apparition: The Plasma apparition we built for the Swiss Science Centre Technorama works according a wholly different principle. In this case, the cloud is created through a discharge of a current in the kVA range through the medium of water.
